Pattern Designs /
Wall Art

Wall paper and Pattern design is one of our specialities here at Sloanis. We can either take stock photography and create vectors for scalability for full repeats, toiles or just shapes. Or a mural style graphic piece that’s printed rather than painted on to the wall. Custom wall paper for your business or maybe your home office its a piece thats special to you. I can also help with brainstorming and conceptual thinking to help if you’re stuck. Pattern Design can be used for textiles, packaging and branding. The possibilities are endless. I create everything that you see here from start to finish, from the elements that go into the pattern and the repeat. Once things are finished I send it off to the vendor for printing, from there I can help find someone to do the install.

Case Study

Client project for masking units on the bowling lane. Concept was acid aspen mountain theme. Yup thats right. How do you get there? And how do you solve the visual quest of creating something like this.

-Lots of research -Creative exploration – tad bit of illustration – photoshop skills and a wild imagination.

THREE SAINTS REVIVAL WALLPAPER

Here's a little info on the wallpaper pattern thats on the top of this page. Full custom pattern that wraps wall to ceiling. I worked with the Fam Design team on this, they gave me the concept of dreams and the color scheme. My role in this was creating each of the elements, giving them a style / look and feel and then to create this pattern and repeat. In all it's a start to finish project. So what do we have here, what do we dream about, flying teeth, snakes, teardrops, men and women bust, houses, swords and floral. I go between using illustrator and photoshop to create and layout everything. The way I create these in the programs make scalability very simple once everything is done. Enjoy!

Abstract Wheat Wallpaper

This is a custom abstract wheat wallpaper created for Punch Bowl Social Milwaukee location. I created the wheat vector graphic and the repeat pattern in illustrator which makes it easy to scale at whatever size I need it to be. For all of the wall coverings created here I do it all start to finish. Sometimes I start with hand drawn elements and then make vectors out of those or I go start to the computer and start creating, it depends on what is needed and timing.

Flamingos Pattern

Flamingos Pattern was created for the Salt Lake City PBS. I worked with the Fam Design team concept was to create a repeat pattern of flamingos with gold flower headband. I created this in illustrator with just simple vector shapes that make up the flamingo and the leafs, once approved the pattern creations happens pretty fast. One thing to always keep in mind while created patterns like this is to make sure the size of you repeat plus people will be seeing this up close so you really gotta pay attention to that. But it is easy to adjust once it is built. Image to the right shows the pattern installed.

Branding & Identity

Having a logo isn’t just the main part of your brand and identity there is a story that needs to be told which helps drive that forward. With a hand full of branding & identity projects under my belt I feel comfortable that I can help tell your story visually. Maybe you have just an idea for a product or a place but not sure what that name should be, well I can help with that as well.

– Alchemy to the right was one of my favorite branding and logo projects. The research and development of the brand came hand in hand. Not only did the client want the name but they also wanted a mark that could be used as well.

Alchemy-Creative-Workspace

Branding / Logo

Alchemy creative workspace was great branding project and learning process. The client wanted a symbol to go along with the name and both had to work together to be recognizable for the brand. The client wanted to make sure that they could use either one whether that was for marketing or internal usage. In the end it out great and the photo shows the two of them playing well together as the outdoor signage.

Local Motive is a cafe shop in New Mexico. The images on the left show a bit out my process when it comes to developing branding and identity for a client.

NOBIS

These two logo options I created for a clients presentation deck for a new business model social club / fitness / remote work. The client needed something to present to investors for the project. I created the deck (not shown here) and the logos, plus a handful of other graphics.

Branding Case Study

Fiona was a project that started off as a presentation deck for the client. All they had was the copy and the space with some imagery for the space to be developed in. For this presentation deck we had to create the deck but also create a brand look and feel with a logo and packaging. In the end it was a quick turnaround with good looking results.

Logo Sample Page

I created this logo sample page as spec work. I like to keep my skills fresh just like the pow pow. Hey Neighbor is my concept for a snowboard brand. Its always good to keep making as much as I can and explore new concepts and ideas.

Illustration work

I love to draw whether thats with pen and paper or digitally with the computer or iPad. Here are some posters, concert tickets for Red Rocks, snowboard graphics and apparel designs.

I got asked to be apart of a poster series that benefits the homeless correlation here in Denver. This is space bear guru, he protects all. Link to shop below

Snowboard Graphics / Hey Neighbor

I've always wanted to do snowboard graphics and previous to graphic design I worked in the snowboard industry for about 15 years. This design was for a client which ended up falling through and was never produced. I ended up taking their name off of it and created my own snowboard brand. For me creating the graphics and laying out the design is something I love to do.

Poster Art

Here's a series of four poster art designs for Frenchmen / Midnight Revival in NOLA. I created each one starting with some simple sketches and then moving into illustrator and photoshop. After looking at the concept and the content that was giving to me I started my image research to be able to create the collage background for the content to lay on top of. I always have a super fun time trying to figure out how to create a style and the hand lettering.

Red Rocks Concert Tickets / Wu-Tang Clan & Diana Ross

Back in 2018 I did the Red Rocks poster contest and even though I didn't win Red Rocks hit me up to see if they could use my art on a concert collector series and I said hell yeah! My art / designs ended up on one of my favorite hip hop groups Wu-Tang Clan and also for Diana Ross! Say what! Yeah super cool.

Agency work- Would love to share more but you know about those NDAS

Before going freelance work for some of the big agency around! I got my start at JWT as Art director working on Ford. Then over to CP+B working on Dominos, Old Navy, BestBuy and Triscuit. Then to The Integer Group working on Miller Coors, Izzie, Naked Juice, and Starbucks. Last The Marketing Arm working as SR Art Director on Absolut, Kahlua, Malibu. Now I freelance for a handful of agency’s from the West coast to the East coast, working on all sorts of projects big and small. Lots of web banners. infographics, and storyboards just to rattle off a few.

Starbucks Story Board

Sometimes when I do freelance work for agency's its not just the basic web banners or layouts for print ads, I get to do some story boarding which I find to be fun and challenging. The process that goes in to creating story boards for brands vary, some times the can be all illustrative or like this using imagery from the brand. Here with this one we combined the two but with more vectors than illustration. I was given the script or copy if you will. Then I came up with the look and feel and how each of the transitions would flow from start to finish. In the end it turned out pretty cool.

As Sr Art Director I worked a wide variety of projects while at The Marketing Arm. Not only did we work on campaigns for each of the bards, we also worked on Enamel pins, packaging design and in-store wow displays and a hand load of brand materials. While assisting the ACD and CD with the team and the day to day projects.

To the left are some drink enamel pins we created for the channel team to be handed out at events,  festivals and for give aways.

Red Robin - In Restaurant video graphics

Here's a little one page graphics for the in restaurant video. I created this while freelancing for Integer. I was given the brand standards book for the colors and typography, the copy was supplied plus the imagery. I was then asked to come up with the look and layout for the project. Worked with CD, ACD and Copy Writer and I was the Art Director / Designer.
